    Graduates are awarded the Master of Science in Legal Studies.

    If your Bachelor’s degree if from the US, Brazil, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, or England, you might not need to have it evaluated depending on the awarding institution (at the discretion of Ambra when checking your documentation). For degrees from other countries, you will need an evaluation report from any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services - NACES. In this case, you should contact them directly and check what would be the procedure and cost for evaluating your credentials.
  • 06 Can I transfer credits from other programs to Master’s programs at Ambra?
    No. Ambra does not accept transfer of credits for Master’s programs.
  • 07 Can I transfer credits from Ambra Master’s program to other institutions?
    No. Even though the acceptance of credits is decided by the receiving institution, students from this course should not expect to start the Master program at Ambra to finish at other institution.
  • 08 How many hours of study will I need to commit to?
    Students are recommended to reserve an average of 15 hours weekly per academic term.
  • 09 Is this program entirely over the Internet?
    Yes, the Master of Science in Legal Studies is 100% online.
  • 10 When Ambra mentions “online program” does it mean a program with recorded classes that I just watch them and take exams?
    No. It means a program that is taught through the Internet where each student receives individualized guidance by a professor, similarly to coaching sessions, that utilizes formative assessment and deliberate practice so that each student reaches the objectives of each class and also the program overall objective.
    For master programs, applicants receive additional details about the teaching-learning process.
  • 11 Can I switch between concentrations?
    Yes, but it will depend on available seats when requested.
  • 12 Does this program require the production of a master thesis?
    Yes.
    Students are required to produce a master thesis that will be assessed by an evaluation committee.
    Each student will receive one to one guidance from a professor (advisor) in order to produce their master thesis.
  • 13 Will I have the chance to publish papers with professors throughout the master program?
    Yes.
    All students will have the opportunity to write and publish papers with their professors throughout the program.
  • 14 Do I need to choose an advisor before enrolling?
    No.
    Candidates don’t need to contact any professor before the application process.
    Application is evaluated by a separate commission and each student will be able to meet and choose advisors during the program.
  • 15 What is the difference between early application and regular application?
    Up to half of the seats available will be assigned to applicants from early application.
  • 16 What happens if I am accepted but do not confirm my seat?
    In this case, you would lose your seat and you can apply again after 6 months from the date that you lost your seat.
  • 17 If I’m not approved for a seat on early application, then can I apply again to the regular application?
    Yes. Applicants not selected on early application will be automatically participating in the regular application. This does not apply to those who were approved on early application, but did not confirm their seats.
  • 18 I know one professor from Ambra, will I have any advantage in the application process?
    No, you will have no advantage if you know or have been a student of our professors.
    Applicants are selected based on information provided and our perceptions throughout the application process by separate committee and not by the whole faculty.
  • 19 What documents do I need to submit with my application?
    You will have to submit digital copies of the following documents:

    - Government issued photo ID;
    - Proof of address;
    - Bachelor’s degree;
    - Bachelor’s academic transcript;
    - Resume (in PDF or MS Word);
    - Passport picture;
    - Essay.
  • 20 How should the essay be?
    The essay is a document that must be written by the applicant and it will be evaluated during the application process. The document must follow some guidelines and answer questions associating your educational background, professional background, and future objectives related to the completion of this program. Applicants receive detailed instructions on how to prepare and submit the essay after the application fee is paid.
  • 21 Is it possible to take leave of absence?
    Yes, if you have successfully completed at least one course. Leave of absence is limited to 9 consecutive months.
  • 22 What is the maximum timeframe allowed to complete the program?
    Students must complete the program within 5 years from the date of enrollment, including eventual interruptions and leave of absence.
  • 23 How is tuition paid?
    Payments are done using American credit card or credit card enabled to be used internationally.
  • 24 What is the price in currencies other than the US dollar?
    Prices are only in US dollars and there are no prices in other currencies. If you do not reside in the USA and utilize other currency, then your credit card operator will handle the conversion from US dollar to your local currency according to market exchange rate.
  • 25 Does Ambra offer any discount, scholarships, or financing?
    All students enrolled in first classes of this program will be awarded a partial scholarship that reduces the investment from $720 to $537 US dollar per month throughout the master's.

  • 26 Does Ambra offer classes for non-degree seeking students?
    No.
  • 27 In what language is this program taught??
    Main language of instruction Portuguese and all assessments are in Portuguese.
    As an exception, the concentration in US Corporate Contracts is taught in English.
  • 28 What is the level of English necessary to study?
    It is necessary that you are able to comprehend texts in English. During the program, you will have mandatory reading materials written in English and you will need to understand them.
    Students interested in the US Corporate Contracts concentration need to take the TOEFL (minimum total score of 100, with at least 25 in writing, 25 in reading, 22 in speaking, and 22 in listening).
